TiTe member of the year
Decoration guidelines:
The title of TiTe member of the year can be awarded to a guild member who has in the past year best represented the spirit of TiTe, and encouraged other members to do the same. The members of the guild can make proposals for recipients of the title to the board. The board awards the title at the end of the academic year, at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration.
Comments:
The honorary title is intended to be a so-called encouragement award that inspires its recipient to continue their exemplary actions. The typical recipient of the honorary title is an active 1st to 3rd-year member who has promoted the guild's efforts and/or reputation through their fuksi or tutor activities, super-activity, achievements, success in tempaus, getting Jukka back, or other accomplishments.
Annually, the honorary title is awarded to approximately three individuals. All names are recorded on a plaque marked with the same year, which is displayed prominently in the guild alongside other plaques recognizing TiTe member of the year recipients.
Ruffe award
Decorary guidelines:
The Ruffe Award is an acknowledgment that can be granted for an individual act, event, or idea that has significantly promoted the guild's status or the interests of its members. This honor can be awarded to an individual or organization. The award is granted by the guild's board and may be presented during the guild's anniversary celebrations or at some other celebration.
Comments:
Yearly the spesifict "tite-acts" get left in the shadows, because the TiTe members of the year is more intended for younger actives and the emblem of merit is usually given after longer work. Ruffe award can be given to a community or an individual for a well done project or other act, which has bettered the guild or helped its members. The award is not supposed to be given out yearly (necessarily), but it's intended to be given when something fitting comes up.
Emblem of merit
Decorary guidelines:
The guild’s emblem of merit is a 30mm silver guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the wide guild sash. The emblem of merit can be awarded to a person who has actively advocated for the benefit of the guild’s activities or its members. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. The emblem of merit is awarded at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. The emblem of merit is awarded by a special committee, which is called together by either the guild’s senior consultant (Wanha Kähmy) or another person named by the guild’s board. The members of the guild can make proposals for awarding of the emblem of merit.
Comments:
The merit badge is primarily intended for long-serving members who have contributed significantly to the guild, and a good number of awarded badges is considered to be between two and five per year (usually five only during milestone anniversary celebrations). However, there is no set quota, as the badges must genuinely be earned! Since recipients of this badge may often be members of the board, it was decided to transfer the responsibility of selecting badge recipients to an external committee outside the board.
The responsibility of assembling the committee lies with the Senior Consultant, who can also choose to participate or not in the committee's activities. The board may also appoint another person as the convener of the committee if the Senior Consultant is unavailable, unable to, or if no one has been appointed to the position. The committee aims to include individuals familiar with the current active members of the guild as well as past recipients of merit badges to ensure careful selections. The process is democratized by collecting nominations from the membership for badge recipients. Receiving a merit badge does not preclude the later awarding of an honorary badge to the same individual!
The guild pennant
Decorary guidelines:
The guild pennant is a pennant with the guild’s logo on it. The guild pennant may be awarded upon decision of the board to a person or organisation that does not belong to the guild, that has through its actions represented the guild’s interests. The pennant is awarded at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration. The guild pennant is also awarded to the guild’s new honourary members.
Comments:
Reasons to give out the guild pennant include a long-time collaboration with a person, a company or a community. One act or an achievement can also be worthy of awarding a pennant, when not that of an honorary membership.
The pennant is also given to new honorary members continuing the traditions: earlier the honorary members got the pennant since there weren't emblems of honour. The pennant is a nice visible thing to put on a cabinet or a table, since the emblem itself can't usually be worn around outside of events.
Honorary membership
Guild rules:
The guild's assembly, with a three-quarters (3/4) majority vote, can confer the title of honorary member upon an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the guild's activities or significantly advanced its objectives. The proposal for honorary membership can be made by the guild's board or a member group consisting of at least fifteen (15) members. An honorary member can also be a regular member of the guild if they meet the conditions required for regular members outlined in these rules. The guild maintains a membership list of its members.
Decoration guidelines:
The guild’s emblem of honour is a 30mm gilded guild emblem, which is worn in the middle of the wide guild sash. The emblem of honour replaces all other decorations worn on the guild sash. The emblem is used at celebrations where academic decorations are worn. The emblem of honour is worn by the guild’s honourary members. According to the guild rules, a person who has “especially contributed to the guild’s activity or otherwise notably represented its interests” may be named an honourary member. New honourary members are awarded the emblem of honour at the guild’s anniversary celebration or at some other celebration.
Comments:
The honorary members are invited by the guild's general assembly with a three-fourths (3/4) majority vote. They are usually significant individuals outside the guild or former guild members who have already graduated. Although the guild has had honorary members before, there have been no embelms of honor or guild ribbons. The intention is that old honorary members can get their embelms of honor from the guild at their own cost. The emblem of honor is the guild's highest recognition, and therefore, it is not worn with other badges on the ribbon; it replaces them.
