Telegram has been a hot topic this year, both in the news and on the board’s agenda. The board has received a lot of feedback, suggestions, and constructive comments from our members regarding TiTe's Telegram channels. Over the summer, there was a broader discussion in TiTe’s general chat where many perspectives were shared. After reviewing the issue, the board has come up with a solution that we believe is worth trying – and we’re launching the trial starting today!

First, an important note: all current TiTe chats will remain as they are. So, if you were worried, rest assured! TiTe’s general chat will continue to serve as a central place where all TiTe members and TiTe-minded individuals are welcome to participate in discussions on various interesting topics. It should also be mentioned that you can still speak English in all chats, but the TiTe-English channel is specifically designated as a space for English-speaking discussions.

But enough talk, let’s get to the solution. We are launching a new TiTe Opiskelijat -Telegram channel. The group will be closed and specifically for TiTe’s members. Joining the group will work similarly to our beloved alumni group: you apply for membership, and a board member will approve your request if you’re listed as a member. Another key feature of the group will be an annual purge. At the end of October, when the membership period changes, the group will be emptied, and members can reapply after paying the new membership fee.

Now, what are the benefits of this group? TiTe’s general chat is nearing 1000 members, and in a smaller group, the threshold for asking questions is much lower. For many, there will also be relatively more familiar faces and active students. This makes the group a great place to get peer support for ongoing courses, find partners for group projects, and have interesting discussions without feeling like you're speaking to such a large audience.

Let’s remember to keep all TiTe chats – both new and old – safe, inclusive, and in line with TiTe’s rules!
